Chris & Wade, 23rd June 2018
This love story begins with an unexpected proposal, on stage, at an Adele concert in Melbourne… and the rest is history!
Tell us about the proposal
Chris
Wade never does things by halves so interrupting a concert and getting down on his knee in front of an audience of 70,000 people was the most emotional and romantic thing I ever experienced. I could easily block out the crowds and Adele (yes, Adele) as he knelt in front of me with a classic ring and a loving smile.
What was it about Stones of the Yarra Valley that made you choose us?
Wade
Aside from the incredible allure of the Stones grounds and buildings, the warmth of the people there, it was an obvious choice for our Western Australian family to experience the absolutely best example of Victoria's beauty.
What were some of your favourite moments/details on the day?
Chris
The ceremony was by far the most emotional time. Proud eyes from family on our loving wedding party wrapped in the warmth of our gorgeous celebrant and the stunning Chapel.
Wade
We had the best time as a wedding party waiting in the ante-room in the barn, laughing, drinking and taking hilarious group selfies
Chris
Though we were taking photos at the time, the guests loved the time in the dairy having cocktails and getting to know each other between the ceremony and the reception
Are there any funny stories or near disasters that surrounded your wedding?
Wade
No disasters but the bus ride home to the city for some of our guests sounded like a big karaoke session through an excited phone call
Was there a particular vibe or theme you were aiming for on your wedding day?
Chris
We always wanted a winter wedding, so we could experience the full effect of the warm glow of candles and shimmering chandeliers. It was chilly out but warm and cosy inside the barn.
What's one thing you wish you knew before you started planning?
Wade
We don't have an answer for this one - we needed no wedding planner because the Stones guide ensured we had a complete checklist of what we needed to do. We were lucky to have good people as suppliers, who knew what they were doing and took any worry or work off our shoulders.
Were there any traditions that you kept or scraped? If so, why?
Chris
Apart from not having a bride, we wanted to have as traditional a wedding we could - vows, rings, beautiful words from our celebrant, embarrassing speeches and a triumphant exit through a row of sparklers at the end of the night
Wade
We did leave out the Nutbush and Chicken Dance though
Did you go on a honeymoon? If so, where did you go?
Chris
We travelled to the Big Apple and enjoyed the extra hospitality New Yorkers give to newly married couples.
Any words of wisdom on marriage?
Wade
Marry your best friend and embark on as many adventures as you can.
What does life look like now? Where are you living, what do you do for work, family or fur babies, any epic holidays/experiences?
Chris
We finally made the move out to the Yarra Valley from Collingwood and now live 15 minutes away from Stones with our two fur babies and a plan to find a new place to renovate
