Meet Lyndal Alexander - Head of Floristry
Lyndal joined Stones of the Yarra Valley in spring 2024 as our Head of Floristry, leading The Providore Styling team with her extraordinary background in event floristry.
With over 30 years of experience crafting breathtaking botanical and floral designs for royalty and celebrities alike, Lyndal has lent her creative vision to Melbourne Fashion Festival, the Spring Racing Carnival, high-end fashion houses, exclusive dinners, and prestigious events, including musical theatre openings and the NGV Gala.
What inspired you to become a florist, and how did your journey in floral design begin?
Picking flowers from the garden and creating arrangements was something I always did, especially with my Granny, from there my love of nature and flowers kept blooming. My passion continued to grow through my family’s business as wedding photographers and printers; I would spend my weekends assisting at weddings and afterwards sketch the bridal gowns and design bouquets.
What is your signature style, and how do you tailor designs to reflect a couple's vision and the venue's atmosphere?
I embrace the elegant classics, the whimsical, the structured, and the dramatic, using shape, texture, colour, and movement to elevate even the humblest of blooms among the heroes. I find beauty in the unexpected. With meticulous attention to detail, I hope to inspire couples to embrace the magic of all four seasons at Stones, crafting floral designs that seamlessly complement their unique aesthetic.
What trends or ideas are you most excited about in wedding florals for the upcoming season?
I'm most excited about embracing rich textures, dynamic movement, and a palette inspired by nature’s seasonal bounty. This season, expect to see lush, organic arrangements that blend delicate blooms with wild, untamed elements—think wispy grasses, sculptural branches, and unexpected pops of colour. It’s all about celebrating nature’s artistry in a way that feels both effortless and enchanting.
What advice would you give to couples selecting their wedding flowers?
While I’m (kind of) joking when I say ‘it’s all about the flowers,’ they truly do set the tone for your wedding as the first touch of ‘you’ that our guests see when they arrive at your wedding at Stones. My best advice? Embrace the beauty of Stones and the season and trust us to guide you in creating something truly magical. Seasonal blooms not only look their best but also bring a natural harmony to your wedding style. Whether you’re drawn to soft romantic pastels or bold, dramatic arrangements, we’ll help bring your vision to life with flowers that feel organic, elegant, and perfectly suited to your day.
What excites you most about joining the Stones team and working with our couples?
I’m most excited about connecting with couples and bringing their wedding vision to life in a way that feels truly personal and seamless. Every love story is unique, and I love the creative process of tailoring ideas to not only reflect each couple’s style but also enhance the overall atmosphere of their day. Being part of the Stones team means collaborating with an incredible group of professionals who share a passion for crafting unforgettable celebrations, and I can’t wait to help create moments that couples will cherish forever.
