Local Produce Month - Yeringberg Showcase

Over the month of August we will curating three seperate gorgeous menus highlighting local produce. The Yarra Valley is not only home to some incredible wineries, but also to incredible cheesemakers, truffle farmers and apple orchards, just to name a few. Each of these three events will be focused around a seperate incredible Yarra Valley producers.

We’re excited to announce that the first event of our local produce month is our Yeringberg Showcase.

Yeringberg Winery boasts a rich history spanning over 150 years, firmly establishing itself as a pioneer in the Yarra Valley winemaking scene. The journey began with the migration of Baron Frederic-Guillaume de Pury, from Switzerland to Australia in 1852. After working with other pioneering wineries in the region, he acquired 450 hectares of land in the central Yarra Valley in 1863. Here, he planted 32 hectares of vineyards and named the estate Yeringberg.

Throughout the years, Yeringberg experienced both triumphs and challenges inherent in farming. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, the winery enjoyed significant success, garnering multiple international awards and exporting wine to the northern hemisphere. However, following the First World War, changing market demands led to a decline in demand for cool climate wines. In 1921, second generation winemaker, George de Pury, made the decision to remove all vineyards and shift focus to sheep and cattle farming.

Inspired by the legacy of Yeringberg wines, George’s son, Guill, embarked on the journey to revive the vineyard in 1969. Over the years, he steadily expanded plantings, reigniting the reputation of Yeringberg. Today, Sandra de Pury and her brother David oversee operations, with David managing the vineyard and livestock, while Sandra crafts the wines.

On Saturday, August 3, we will take you on a culinary journey with a four course menu impeccably matched to the wines so carefully crafted by the De Pury family.
